Clearing Cache & Cookies

Clearing cache and cookies in your Google Chrome browser can help resolve various issues and improve your browsing experience. Cache and cookies are temporary data stored by websites to enhance performance and remember certain user preferences. However, over time, these files can accumulate and lead to problems. Follow these steps to clear cache and cookies in Google Chrome:

  • Open Chrome Browser: Launch your Google Chrome browser by clicking on its icon on your desktop or searching for "Chrome" in your computer's search bar.

  • Access the Clear Browsing Data Menu: Click on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the browser window. This will open a dropdown menu.

  • Choose "Settings": Click on “Settings” and this will open up a new window for you.

  • Go to “Privacy and Security”: Select “Privacy and Security” from the left-hand panel on the page

  • Click on “Clear browsing data”: Click on “Clear browsing data” from the list of options.

  • Choose the time range: At the top of the "Clear browsing data" window, you'll see a dropdown menu labeled "Time range." Select the time period for which you want to clear cache and cookies.

  • Select Items to Clear: Check the boxes next to the types of data you want to clear. For clearing cache and cookies, you should at least select ‘Cookies and other site data’ and ‘Cached images and files’. You can also choose to clear other types of browsing data if needed, such as browsing history, download history, and more.

  • Confirmation: Once you've selected the items you want to clear, click the "Clear data" button at the bottom of the window. Chrome will start clearing the selected data.

  • Restart Chrome: Close and reopen your Google Chrome browser to complete the process. The cache and cookies for the selected time range should now be cleared.

Remember that clearing cache and cookies will log you out of websites and may remove some preferences. You might need to log in again on various websites after performing this action. Regularly clearing cache and cookies can help maintain the performance of your browser and prevent potential issues related to stored data.
